2011 California All-State Band

Last Thursday to Sunday, I went to Fresno for All-State band. All-State is for middle-schoolers and high-schoolers, and you have to try out to get in. You have to send in a recording of whatever is required that year, then the judges pick people.

It was really fun, but it would've been so much more fun if more of my friends tried out! My only friend from school was Jocelyn, and I'm so glad she was there! If not, I would've been so clueless the whole time....

Everyday, we had to walk a lot from the hotel to the practice place, from the practice place to the lunch place, then back to the practice place, then back to the hotel, etc. On the last day, along with walking to and from the hotel to practice, we had to drop off our instruments at the performance place, back to the lunch place, back to the hotel to change into concert dress, back to the performance place to take the group picture, to an exhibit (where music stores have a booth where they sell stuff), to the dinner place, back to the performance place, then finally back to the hotel. Almost every place had stairs too. On that day, my roommates decided to wear these really uncomfortable high heels, and by the end of the day, their feet were swollen and blistered REALLY bad. :( One of them had really small feet and short toes, so when her toes swelled up, it was like her foot was going to explode or something. I wore these flats type of shoes, and my feet still hurt a lot.

I think I should stop talking about gross feet now. :P

All band people should try out for All-State though, it's a really good experience! :D And it's fun!
