NEW YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darn it. I'm just too used to publishing posts right after I finish them so I accidentally published the other one too early. Don't worry, my clock is not off by 10 something minutes. :P But I will try my best to publish this one at the correct time! If I don't, I'll try again...if 12:00 still hasn't come yet.

NEW YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's New Years!!!!!!!!! Whippeeeeeee! I tried my best to publish this post right at 12:00 A.M. but the time at my house might be off by a few minutes or so. : ( I actually typed this up before time, so when the time says it's 12:00, all I have to do is press the button, "PUBLISH POST." :D Good idea, huh? Anyways, I hope you guys will have a wonderful new years!

P.S. In Amsterdam/Holland, there are probably a bunch of people getting ready to light fireworks and to drink lots of champagne/usually apple cider for kids. I went to Amsterdam to visit my aunt and uncle a few years ago, so that's how I know this. My uncle is actually an architect, so their house is REEEAAALLLYYY COOOL! We bought a bunch of mini fireworks to light, but the huge one was the exciting part. The huge firework was like the size of a mini cannon!

Anyways, my uncle is an architect, the house is really cool, blah blah blah. Now here's the part where I'm trying to get to. There's a staircase that leads to a door on the ceiling which opens up to the rooftop of the house! And the house is HIGH UP. It's 3 TALL stories high. But anyways, we all crowded around the staircase and set up the "cannon." When 12:00 came, my uncle shot it into the sky with this rocket launcher thingy (Just kidding! Truthfully, I remember the cannon but can't remember how it was shot out.) When it was shot out, it seemed like the whole Amsterdam could see it! And this MIGHT be true because Amsterdam pretty small. Also, even before we shot or huge cannon, it seemed like war had just begun! No silly, not because people were killing each other and having fights below out on the streets! Because some people's clocks were probably off (or ours might have been off :P) and everyone started to light fireworks at different times. And the fireworks are LOUD and BRIGHT. It looked like people were firing cannons everywhere!

Anyways, that's my story about Amsterdam. If you want to go somewhere overseas sometime because you're just too bored during summer or winter break, Amsterdam is a good place to tour around. There's lots of good food (especially the Pancake House) there! Near my aunt and uncle's house, there's also the house (the Annex or Attic or something) where Anne/Ann Frank hid when Hitler was being mean (trying to kill Jew's/sending them off to concentration camps.) I think her body might be there too. My family and I was going to go inside (it's open to public as a museum) but there was a huge line and we didn't want to wait.

Riddle!

It's riddle time again! And again, I think I should remind you that my riddle book is a little lame, so sorry if you're like, "these riddles are weird!" Anyways, here's a riddle that you can think about throughout your New Year's Eve day, which is today!

What has teeth, but cannot eat?

Another riddle that is alike this one is:

What has an eye, but cannot see?

Anyways, I hope you'll have fun during your New Year's Eve and the New Year!

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Today, I visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium! I had actually gone there many times but this is my first time actually going inside. It wasn't actually that interesting, but I still took a lot of pictures and videos because not everyone in my family went inside.

What I thought was cool/most interesting:
The JELLYFISH
-There were so many types of jellyfish! I don't really remember the names though, except for the "egg-yolk jelly." : )

What I thought was the cutest:

The SEA OTTERS

I learned something weird about:
The SEAHORSES
-In the seahorse family, males give birth to the babies instead of the females!

An interesting animal that I have never seen before:
The SEA DRAGONS
-There are 2 types-the Leafy Sea Dragon and the Weedy Sea Dragon. The Leafy one looks cooler in my opinion.

Mortimer's Christmas Manger

I searched up on the internet so now I know what the story is called! It's called, Mortimer's Christmas Manger by Karma Wilson.

Here's the story! It might be a little inaccurate because I might not remember everything.

Once upon a time lived a little mouse called Mortimer. He lived in a hole in a house that was really cold, scary, and uncomfortable. One day, he saw a huge tree outside decorated with lights and had a star on top. Next to the tree, there was a table, and on the table was a little house perfect for him! He decided to use the tree to climb up to the tabletop so he could get to the house. He got to the house and it was perfect, except for one thing. There were many statues of people just as small as he was; there were animals, 3 men riding on donkeys that wore fancy clothing, a baby and his parents, and a manger covered with straw.

"What are these statues doing here?" Mortimer said. "I'm going to push all of them away!"

However, Mortimer kept the manger covered with straw and used it as a bed. It was very comfortable and warm!

The next day, when Mortimer came back to his perfect house, he found the statues all back into their original place!

"I'm so frustrated!" Mortimer exclaimed. "I'm going to pull them all out again!"

After all of the statues were gone, he slept comfortable on the manger again.

The next night, when Mortimer came back to the house, it was not surprising that the statues were back in place. But as he was pulling the statues out, he saw people sitting around in a circle and heard the dad tell a story. The story was about a baby called Jesus that is the messiah and was born in a little manger. During the night he was born, 3 wise men rode on donkeys to Bethlehem to visit Jesus.

"Oh, so that's the reason why the little statues are all there," said Mortimer. "Now, I'm going to put all of the things back into their place."

So Mortimer pulled and dragged all of the little statues, but this time, he pulled them back inside.

That night, Mortimer was back into his little uncomfortable hole.

"Hmm, maybe Jesus can help me find a better home than this."

So Mortimer prayed to Jesus that night.

The next morning, he spotted a perfect house! It was covered with little candies and the roof and walls were all made from gingerbread cookies!

"I guess Jesus did find a perfect home just for me!" Mortimer exclaimed happily.

THE END

Decades

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!!! Well, Christmas was yesterday but it's still boxing day today! Remember to still have the happy holiday spirit! In a few days, it would be 2010 and this decade would be over! This decade is known as, "the decade from hell" so I guess people are glad that it's almost over. So many sad things happened; 9/11 for example. But as I said before, it is almost over! 2010 and years after that would hopefully be better...

Christmas Eve Church Service

Yesterday, I went to church at night with my family, and it was soooo cool! Here are the things that happened during the service (they are in chronological order):

1.) It was really cold outside so when we stepped in, it felt so warm and comfortable!
2.) The service hadn't started yet so we got some time to have a drink apple cider that was available. There, they also had snacks like cookies (a bunch of different kinds: Christmasy decorative cookies, double chocolate chip cookies, M&M cookies, etc.), mini cupcakes (chocolate and yellow cake with chocolate/vanilla icing), brownies, and lots more! We drank the apple cider but didn't eat the sweets; we had just eaten a big Christmas Eve dinner!
3.) We went inside and headed towards the seats. There was a candle on every seat! Anyways, we sang a bunch of fun Christmas songs.
4.) After finishing a few songs, we listened to the elementary kids pastor tell us a story about a mouse named Mortimer who lived a really small and uncomfortable hole, but found a really nice home (gingerbread house) in the end. There's more about Christmasy stuff in the middle of the story but it's too long to tell right now. If you're interested, the story will be in another post.
5.) We sang a few more Christmas carols. (e.g., O Come All Ye Faithful, O Holy Night, Hark the Herald Angel Sing)
6.) We listened to our pastor talk. He talked a little about how during Christmas, we shouldn't get distracted about things like presents for example, but to focus and remember that Jesus, the messiah, was born on that day. God sent Him to the Earth to save everyone from their sins by dying on the cross. But Jesus died on the cross many years later after He was born, so don't get confused about Christmas and Easter! The pastor also talked a lot more about Christmas but if I tell you everything, then this post would be really long!
(Easter is three days after the day Jesus died on the cross. Three days after Jesus was buried, he rose from his tomb. The day he rose from his tomb is now Easter Day.)
7.) We lit the candles that were on our seats while singing more songs.
8.) We listened to announcements (things that had/will be happening). The church's goal was to raise $25,000 to dig and build a well in El Salvador so the people there could drink clean water. Probably almost everyone chipped in some money, because we ended up raising $98,000! Yay, now they could build three wells and only need $2,000 more to build a fourth! :D
9.) We prayed, then by the time the whole service was done, it was already 12:00! It was Christmas already!
10.) Outside, free books were available. One of the books (which I took) is called, The Case for Christmas by Lee Strobel. Here's part of something that is said in the back of the book:
"The Case for Christmas invites you to consider why Christmas matters in the first place. Somewhere beyond the traditions of the holiday lies the truth. It may be more compelling than you've realized. Weigh the facts...and decide for yourself."
The other book was the New Testament from the bible for new believers. I didn't take that one because I already have a bible at home which has the New Testament as well as the Old Testament.

So that was what happened yesterday during the Christmas Eve service at my church.

Piano Recital

I had my Christmas piano recital today! Rhea was there. :)

I messed up soooo many times! Rhea, if you're reading this, I'm so sorry I messed up during the Chinese Dance! When I messed up, did I mess you up too? Oh, I'm so sorry! I just get so afraid when I get on the stage. At least now I'm done with it. After the recital, I was so happy! To think about it, I have nothing left to do for the whole Christmas break (except for working on the fictional narrative):
-one more wushu class on Tuesday
-done with piano (except for practice)
-done with french horn (except for practice)
-done with school
Yay! Now I get to relax. My relatives from Hong Kong are coming over on December 24, Christmas Eve! I'm so excited! I think we're going to the Grand Canyon, but I'm still not sure.

So Busy!

Uggh, I have a fictional narrative to finish! My language arts teacher never gives homework on regular school days, but she gives so much during the weekends and breaks! And when she does give homework, she gives a lot and expects us to finish it perfectly. I'd rather get a bit of homework every day. So I haven't even started the fictional narrative and we're supposed to finish by Sunday and then revise and add and take out little things throughout the rest of the break. Some of you guys might use Criterion at school and that's what we're using too. What I don't like (but teachers like) about Criterion is that when we're typing, the teacher can see all of the things in our accounts and they can see what we're typing. She can also leave comments and stuff. So if you don't finish by Sunday, she will know and might mark people down some points. I hate language arts!

Then on Sunday, I have a piano recital! I'm playing a song called the "Chinese Dance" from the Nutcracker with Rhea! It's really fun but I'm not too excited to perform the songs on a big stage.

Oh, and for people who are interested about when this year's winter equinox is (maybe every year is the same but I don't know if it is), it's on December 21. And for people who don't what an equinox is, it's a day of the year when there is exactly the same amount of hours during the day and the night. Winter equinox is during the winter, and the summer equinox is during the summer. Wait, is there a winter or summer or whatever equinox? I totally forgot everything I learned in science last year. I know there is such thing as an equinox for sure though!

Anyways, Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you guys will enjoy your holiday! I know I will. :P

December!

Time passes by so quickly. I can't believe it's already December! There is only about two more weeks of school, and it would be Winter Break already! It feels like school hasn't even really started yet, since I didn't really get as much homework as I had expected. I do get MUCH more homework than last year though. How's school going for everyone?

I think I'm just feeling more relaxed because I have more extra time now that I'm out of gymnastics (sorry gymnastics buddies!). But I guess it was a good decision for me to quit, because if I'm still doing gymnastics, I'll probably have to stay up every night until 12:30-1:00 or even maybe 2:00 to finish all of my homework. I survived last year though, because I pretty much got no homework every night.

Anyways, is anyone going anywhere interesting for the break? Some of my relatives that live in Hong Kong (China) are coming over for a while during the break! We might go together to Las Vegas for a day or two, then we might even go to the Grand Canyon! Either that or we might go skiing. Which do you guys think is better?
